How to choose a shade or lamp for a specific room
Start with the room and the task. A living room or dining area suits larger pendant lamps or 40-55 cm shades that throw wide, warm light. A bedroom and bedside table call for a denser, smaller shade (25-35 cm) so the bulb stays out of sight when you lie down. For a hallway or reading corner choose more directed light; for a kitchen island, several matching lamps in a row.

Light, bulbs and the effect of the weave
A woven shade does not block light but diffuses it: typically 40-70% passes through the natural fiber weave, depending on how dense it is. A tightly woven shade casts crisp shadow patterns on walls and ceilings, while a looser one gives a soft, even glow. It is this weave pattern that turns each lamp into a living light source rather than just illumination.
For warm, cozy light, choose LED bulbs at 2200-2700 K. Most fixtures use a standard E27 socket; smaller shades use E14. LEDs produce minimal heat, which is ideal for natural fibers; avoid halogen and bulbs above 40 W, as excess heat can dry out the weave over time.
Care and the longevity of woven fixtures
Natural fiber lamps are happiest in dry rooms, away from direct moisture and sinks. Dust them regularly with a soft dry cloth or a low-suction vacuum brush so the weave holds its shape and tone. Never soak a shade and avoid harsh cleaning products.
