Helpful guidance
A beautiful woven shade is only half a fixture - the rest comes from the right indoor cord, ceiling canopy and mounting kit. This section gathers the parts for installing pendant lamps safely on the ceiling: fabric or PVC cords, socket holders, fittings and ceiling roses. Every kit is built for a standard E27 socket, so it pairs perfectly with our woven shades in rattan, esparto, palm leaf and bamboo.
If you bought a shade on its own, these accessories are exactly what turn it into a complete ceiling light. Before choosing, check the diameter of the shade's top opening and the socket type so the cord and holder connect precisely.
A ceiling canopy (rose) covers the connection point and holds the fixture against the ceiling. Our mounting kits usually include the canopy, fixing screws and a cable clamp for a safe, tidy installation. For larger woven shades, choose a sturdier canopy rated for the matching weight.
We recommend leaving 230 V mains work to a certified electrician. Always switch off the power at the consumer unit before mounting. Make sure the ceiling structure can carry the weight of the fixture - heavier shades may need an extra anchor or wall plug.
The cord length sets how low the lamp hangs. Above a dining table, keep the bottom of the fixture 60-75 cm above the tabletop so the light reaches the table without dazzling people seated at it. In a standard room with 2.5-2.7 m ceilings, an adjustable cord of 1-1.5 m is usually enough.
Many of our kits let you shorten or re-hang the cord after installation, so one lamp suits both a kitchen island and a tall living room. Over a kitchen island, space several pendants evenly, 60-80 cm apart, for light that covers the whole worktop.
Every accessory in this section is made for a standard E27 socket - just like our woven shades, so the components combine freely. Natural fiber shades suit LED bulbs best: they produce minimal heat, which protects the weave, and they bring out the fine shadow patterns on the ceiling and walls.
For warm, cozy light choose LED at 2200-2700 K. Roughly 40-70% of the light passes through a tightly woven shade, so for a larger room pick a bulb with a higher lumen output. Avoid halogen and bulbs above a 40 W heat equivalent so the natural fibers do not dry out.
The cord and canopy are the visible part of a pendant, so their tone shapes the overall look. A black fabric cord stands out against a pale ceiling and suits Scandinavian, boho and industrial styles; a beige or natural gray cord almost blends into the ceiling for a minimalist feel. Brass or matte metal details add a warmer, more natural mood that complements rattan and esparto texture.
For a whole light line over an island or long table, choose matching cords and canopies so the result looks coordinated and tidy.
Indoor cords and accessories are made for dry rooms. Wipe them with a soft dry cloth; using them in bathrooms and other damp rooms is not recommended. Check periodically that the fittings are tight and the cord is undamaged.
